Lisa Wilkinson gets surgery on her wrist returns to work
Lisa Wilkinson has explained why her arm is in a cast, as she returned to the Today Show on Thursday.
After having the previous day off work, Lisa revealed she had surgery on her wrist on Wednesday, as she suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome in both arms.
The 57-year-old explained she was forced to have an operation, as she’d often suffer from ‘completely dead’ arms.

The media veteran said she’s suffered from the painful condition for about 20 years, and was first diagnosed with it after the birth of her second child, Louis.
‘Basically, my arm was going dead when I woke up in the morning,’ Lisa said.
‘And I’d sort of wake up with pins and needles, but it has been getting worse and worse and worse.’

‘To the point where for the last, sort of, two months, I haven’t been able to sleep for much more than about an hour at a time every night because my arms were just completely dead.’
She said she’d have to get out of bed and shake her arms to try and ease the pain.
About the surgery, she added: ‘They’ve cut my hand open and just released all the build up.’

She said her doctors told her to keep her arm raised up in the air and above her heart, but she obviously couldn’t do that on TV.
She joked her husband, Peter FitzSimons, and their children have been ‘stirring’ her up, and walking around at home with their arms raised.
On Wednesday, Lisa explained on Instagram was she was absent on the Today Show earlier that day.

‘So, I didn’t quite make it in to work today, because this happened…’ she wrote, underneath a shot of herself in pajamas with her arm in a cast.
‘Back tomorrow, cast and all,’ she continued, before joking: ‘Just need to find an outfit to go with it.’
The brunette beauty added: ‘Thanks so much for all the lovely well wishes, and for all those asking, my Snap Crackle Pop PJs are by @peteralexanderofficial.’

As expected, Lisa’s fans were quick to send her their well wishes.
‘Love the PJs and the blanket. Wishing you a full recovery and you look good in everything you wear,’ wrote one.
Another commented: ‘Hope it’s not too painful and mends quickly Lisa. We missed you this morning.’

The glamorous host is used to receiving complimentary feedback on Instagram.
Earlier this week, fans showered her with praise after she shared a selfie from dinner with her husband.
Comments were quick to compliment the mother-of three with one fan even calling her the female version of Benjamin Button.
