A Westfield shopping centre in north-west Sydney has been evacuated after security alarms rang out across the building.
Women, including mothers with prams and elderly patrons, were seen leaving the shopping centre in Hornsby around 10am on Tuesday, according to North Shore Mums.
Groups are said to have gathered around the facility’s feature water fountain outside as they bided time.
A shopper told the publication the evacuation made people nervous following the terror attacks overseas in recent months.

‘With everything that’s going on in the world at the moment, these alarms can be really unsettling,’ they said.
‘Everyone seemed to remain calm, but there was a good 20 minutes where we didn’t know what was happening, so I’m sure thoughts of terrorism was at the back of everyone’s minds.’
Soon after the building was evacuated, a second announcement declared the situation was under control and encouraged shoppers to return.
Police told Daily Mail Australia they believe the alarm was a fire alarm.
This is the second time a security alarm has rung at the centre this week, according to North Shore Mums.
